10:00am - A Stretching Process all the Way
Join author and historian, Marilyn Mitchem, as she celebrates the one-hundredth anniversary of Leonora Whitaker's marriage to John Wood on May 3, 1910; and Ebenezer Mission's church-schoolhouse dedication, on May 13-15. Through the gifts and sacrifices of many, the dream of a separate building for education and worship became a reality. Led by John Wood, and assisted by men of Morgan Gap, Ebenezer's crowning achievement was the construction of its bell tower and the installation of its donated bell.
You'll hear, from Leonora herself, about the real-life people and situations she and John Wood encountered. Unforeseen challenges and hardships forced the couple to stretch beyond their comfort zones in their quest to educate and evangelize the people of Morgan Gap. As you hear Marilyn place these events in their historical perspective, you'll realize that Ebenezer Mission's truth is as compelling as Cutter Gap's fiction.
11:45am - Swappin' Howdies Luncheon
Attendees new and old will have the chance to go to a local restaurant for lunch and spend time chatting and getting to know one another. It's a great way to get acquainted with other attendees at the festival. Please note the luncheon is optional and cost of your lunch is not included.
